At Camp Big Dawg, safety is the foundation of everything we do. Camp is personally run and supervised by Chris, who is hands on with every camper. Your dog isn’t just part of a group, they are individually known, thoughtfully managed, and genuinely cared for.
All dogs remain under direct supervision at all times. Campers are taken out one on one or alongside dogs from the same household. We do not combine unfamiliar dogs into large play groups. This intentional structure keeps the environment calm, controlled, and safe while preventing overstimulation and unnecessary conflict.
Because of this approach, we are able to welcome reactive dogs, intact males, intact females, females in heat for an additional fee, and behavioral cases with bite history. Dogs who struggle with reactivity often begin to settle here as they are gradually desensitized to the presence of other dogs without physical interaction. Other dogs are simply present in the environment, not forced into engagement, allowing campers to learn neutrality and relax at their own pace.
Instead of turning dogs away, we create a structured, individualized plan that supports their needs while maintaining a safe environment for all.
Dogs who love to play enjoy one on one ball or frisbee sessions tailored to their energy level. Those who prefer affection receive dedicated cuddle time and personal attention. Whether your pup thrives on activity or quiet companionship, we ensure they feel secure, fulfilled, and at home.
Every camper is treated like top dog because your peace of mind is our favorite reward.

At Camp Big Dawg, we believe pets are family, and they deserve a space that feels safe, clean, and comfortable while you are away. Every detail of our facility is designed with your dog’s well being in mind.
Cleanliness is a top priority. Each camper is provided with a sanitized kennel, raised cot, and individual food and water bowls. All spaces and equipment are thoroughly cleaned between guests to maintain our standards. We do not use shared water areas, helping us reduce cross contamination and keep every dog healthier during their stay.
Both buildings are fully temperature controlled for year round comfort. Air conditioning keeps campers cool during the summer months, and reliable heating ensures they stay cozy when temperatures drop.
For dogs who are known escape artists or simply need extra security, we offer kennels equipped with secure toppers for added peace of mind.
At Camp Big Dawg, your pet is not just boarded. They are cared for in a thoughtfully maintained environment built around safety, cleanliness, and comfort.

Chris is the proud owner of Camp Big Dawg and a dedicated dog lover with a lifelong passion for working with dogs. As a proud dog dad to four German Shepherds and Belgian Malinois, he understands the loyalty, intelligence, and drive that working breeds bring into a home.
From a young age, dogs were Chris’s comfort and constant during difficult times, providing loyalty and stability when he needed it most. That early bond shaped the deep respect and connection he now brings to every dog in his care. He began house and pet sitting at just 12 years old, laying the foundation for a lifetime of hands-on experience.
After more than 30 years as a self-employed contractor and owner of Big Dawg Construction, Chris felt called toward a new direction, one rooted in purpose and fulfillment. That calling led to the creation of Camp Big Dawg, where he confidently works with everything from household pets with unique needs to advanced detection and protection K9s.
Chris is known for meeting dogs where they are, building trust through structure, patience, and leadership. His ability to connect with even the most challenging personalities truly sets him apart.

Camp Big Dawg was founded on the belief that pets deserve love and respect. We started after struggling to find care for our own human and dog selective pets. Many kennels would not accommodate them, so we created a safe, structured space where unique personalities and quirks are understood and welcomed.

After developing a deep passion for dogs in need, Chris became a foster and has since earned “Super Foster” status with M.A.D. He has a true gift for evaluating each dog and finding the right placement, whether that is a loving pet home or an exceptional working K9 prospect.

Maddie is our trusted relief support with over six years of experience training dogs, from puppies learning basic obedience to advanced personal protection and detection K9s. She also plays an active role in helping train and evaluate Camp Big Dawg’s fosters, building strong foundations that set each dog up for long term success.
In addition to running training sessions, Maddie works at a local veterinary clinic as an assistant, expanding her knowledge of canine health and bringing a well rounded perspective to every dog she works with.
She owns Raymond, her German Shepherd Husky mix and certified service animal who assists in sessions, Cooper, a personal protection dog working toward mold detection certification, and our very own Speed, a former foster now working in personal protection and firearm detection training.
Now partnering with Peak Performance K9 for limited Board and Train opportunities. Maddie evaluates and trains our fosters while running her own professional program, bringing experience, structure, and a relationship-based approach to every dog she works with. Contact us for more information!
